Nelson was born in Kazungula on the border of Chobe National Park and spent much of his childhood in Northern Botswana. As a child he also lived in Shakawe on the border of the Okavango Delta where he used to accompany his father on freight supply trips into the bush as well as learning how to navigate the waterways of the Delta in mokoro. His working life began in Kasane and the continuous stream of wildlife coming through the area drew him to start his training as a guide. Nelson qualified as a guide in 2005 and since then has guided in lodges and on mobile safaris all over Northern Botswana from Chobe to the Kalahari and back again. When not in the bush he still lives with his family in Maun.

Dan’s guiding life started from a young age. With a father who was a professional hunter and his holidays spent in the bush it was somewhat inevitable that a life in the bush amongst the wildlife beckoned. In 1999 Dan started work with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks as a game scout and rapidly rose up the ranks before moving into a role as an anti-poaching officer. This in-depth immersion into the bush further broadened his interest in flora and fauna leading him to retrain as a professional guide and achieve his full guiding license in 2007. Originally from the town of Lobatse he now calls Maun home where he lives with his wife and four children.
