hat a fantastic few days with the Botswana Travel & Tourism Expo #btte2017 in Kasane. With over 60 top travel agents and tour operators arriving into Maun airport on the 30th of November and then a further 60 arriving into Kasane on the 4th of December it was guaranteed to be a great event.
With the first rains having fallen it was a great time to share the bush and, with Africa Wild Lodges, we headed out into the bush on a mobile safari in Khwai followed by a fly in lodge safari in the Okavango Delta. What a pleasure to spend time with David (Goway Travel) Cara (Eco South), Nina (FTI Touristik) and Eva (Afrika Plus) on the pre-tour with some amazing birdlife, brand new baby wildebeests, a tonne of ellies and almost as many giraffes amongst the grand diversity that is Moremi Game Reserve. Special mention to the member of our party who wasn’t the biggest fan of flying but put on a brave face and got up front with the co-pilot!
T he fam-trip arrived safe and sound in Kasane on the 4th of December and, with the additional agents and tours operators arriving in Kasane airport, the complete take-over of Kasane by the Botswana safari industry had begun! Other than catching up with our agents/tour operators/friends (all the same thing really), it was a marvellous opportunity to meet new people from all over the world and share the awesome country that is Botswana. With 4 destination workshop, 55 meetings, 2 cocktail parties (man this really was hard work) and an informal (but well behaved) night out in the best pub in Kasane (the awesome Old House) we cemented friendships, signed agreements and made lots of new friends. All credit to Botswana Tourism for getting it all together and to making this the 5th, and best, BTTE event yet.
If you are in the travel industry you’d like to take part in next year’s event let us know and we’ll see if we can get you over to Botswana for an educational (and very fun) few days in the bush and in Chobe. It really is worth it!
